Ansett air freight commenced operations on the 1st July 1980. it was one of the first air freight companies in Australia to uplift air cargo in dedicated freighter aircraft. Ansett air freight was a dynamic company owned by Ansett airlines. Ansett airlines was established and owned by the late Sir Reginald Myles Ansett KBE (13 February 1909 – 23 December 1981) a renowned Australian business man. Sir Reginald Ansett eventually sold the airline to a partnership between News Corporation and Sir Peter Ables TNT Group as 50/50 owners.

Wards Express used several aircraft here is the Falcon 20 VH-BRR with large forward freight door in Perth in the early 1980’s. Wards started from a garage in Sydney in the late 1970’s. By the time Wards was sold by Sid Ward to Mayne Nickless wards had a fleet of aircraft and delivery vehicles Australia-Wide. A pilot was killed in North Queensland when a Wards learjet crashed in the mid 1980’s.

Ansett Air Freight was run by a gentleman call Tony Maco who was originally employed by Wards Express.
TNT Freighter air craft at Perth airport. during the 1980’s TNT and Newcorp were 50-50 partners in Ansett. TNT had a fleet of aircraft and an extensive on ground fleet in Australia. Most of TNT’S air freight was uplifted with Ansett Air Freight.
An Australian Cargo Freighter. Australian cargo was to become Australian Air Express (or AAE as they were known) AAE was a partnership between Qantas and Australia Post. AAE was eventually sold/taken over/closed down and the business went to Star Track Express and Qantas freight, in a deal made between the two.
TNT JET TNT mostly used these aircraft in North Queensland and the Norther Terrotory.
